Skeets McDonald Died On This Date In 1968

Skeets was born and raised on a farm in Rector, Arkansas. He learned how to play the guitar when he was a kid. His musical career was interrupted by World War II, and he went into the US Army; he served with the Medical 69th General Hospital that served in North Africa, India and Okinawa.

During the mid-1950s Skeets recorded for Capitol Records. He was also writing songs at that time.  In 1952, he had the biggest hit on the song, “Don’t Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes.”

He was a headliner on two major shows, The Hometown Jamboree, and The Town Hall Party.  Both shows were  held in California and were very popular.

Skeets McDonald passed away March 31, 1968.
