In the early ‘60s, Buddy Meredith recorded
for Don Pierce of Starday Records and was billed as a “Rising
New Star On The Country Music Horizon. Starday sent me the
album and that was my introduction to Buddy. In my estimation,
he was a very good singer. Don said “He was handsome and
personable.”
Buddy Meredith was born
April 13, 1926, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, but eventually
moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. His great love from
childhood was Country Music and after his discharge from the
U. S. Navy, he began a professional career as a Country singer
on radio.
Buddy tried his hand as
songwriting and did pretty well, penning many of the songs he
recorded, such as “Just For A Little While,” “Time,” and “I
Won’t Be There.” His first releases on Starday were well
received by the DJs and they resulted in Buddy’s first album.
The last I knew of Buddy’s
whereabouts was that he wintered in Arizona and spent his
summers in South Dakota. But, wherever he is, Happy Birthday
Buddy Meredith!
